ESI vice president and principal Peter Angelides delivered a presentation on how tax incentives can be used to spur development at the regional level during the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s (DVRPC) Regional Community and Economic Development Forum on Friday, June 19.

During his presentation, Angelides touched upon a number of topics including property tax abatements, local economic revitalization tax assistance (LERTA) and tax increment financing (TIF), among others. He also spoke on different tax incentive-related programs Pennsylvania and New Jersey offer.

Angelides told attendees that economic development is a process, not an outcome and that the best policies for using tax incentives to spur development are the ones that are simple and transparent.
