The New Jersey Business & Industry Association has named Joel Naroff as its Chief Economic Advisor and Econsult Solutions as its economic advisory firm. Mr. Naroff will provide timely analysis of issues involving the New Jersey economy and the state’s business climate for NJBIA enabling the association to effectively represent its members on issues of economic importance before policymakers.
“I am excited that Joel and Econsult Solutions made the decision to come on board with us,” said Michele Siekerka, President and CEO of NJBIA. “Joel’s and Econsult Solutions’ expertise will allow us to better inform the public policy debate and help us to work toward the creation of a better business climate for our members.”
Mr. Naroff and Econsult Solutions will kick off their work for NJBIA by producing its first in-depth report assessing and benchmarking the key factors driving the cost of doing business in New Jersey. The report will provide a meaningful comparison with our neighboring states as well as other states across the country.
Mr. Naroff and Econsult Solutions will also produce monthly updates in non-quarterly review months which will provide a quick snapshot of key economic indicators that are important to current policy debates.
“It is important that going forward we develop the empirical data that will enable NJBIA to advocate effectively on tax and economic issues,” said Siekerka.
“As we know, numbers don’t lie. We believe it is very important to put the data behind our positions so that policymakers can clearly see why our economy is performing the way it is and develop the most effective way to create an environment that will give business the confidence to invest and create jobs.”
“I am looking forward to working with NJBIA,” said Mr. Naroff. “ I can’t wait to start diving into the issues so we can inform the debate over how to improve the state’s economic climate.”
Mr. Naroff has been President of his own firm, Naroff Economic Advisors, Inc., for sixteen years. Prior to that he served as the Chief Economist for Commerce/TD Bank and as the Chief Economist for First Fidelity Bank. Mr. Naroff has a Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University.
