Aquil Sabur is an economic development professional possessing specific expertise in accounting, administration, banking, community economic development, entrepreneurship, Islamic finance, minority business and small business financing and venture capital.
For the last thirty years, Mr. Sabur has been involved in small and mid size business development, both here and abroad. He formally served as the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Minority Business Development Authority (PMBDA), and as the Executive Director of the West Philadelphia Financial Services Institution. He has assisted in the creation and expansion of countless small and medium sized companies, and a number of financial institutions including banks, venture funds, micro finance funds and credit unions. These activities resulted in significant capital availability to businesses throughout Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
As CFO of Clean Team Inc. he is responsible for day-to day monitoring, managing and reporting on Team Clean’s financial activities. These include revenue and sales growth; cost and margin control; regulatory and tax compliance; monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and strategic planning
Throughout his career, Mr. Sabur has developed entrepreneurial financing packages that leveraged private and public capital sources in excess of $250 million. He has participated in city, state and federal audits; managed relationships with commercial banks and economic development agencies; and worked closely with legal and accounting professionals, and technical consultants.
Mr. Sabur has testified before numerous committees of government within Philadelphia City Council, the Pennsylvania Legislature and the United States Congress in support of small, medium size, and minority business development. Mr. Sabur has participated in a number of trade missions and finance seminars, with specific emphasis on entrepreneurship and profit sharing finance, in the Middle East, West Africa and Europe.
A native of South Philadelphia, he attended the Wharton Evening School at the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Antioch University.
