As an urban farmer and sustainability advocate, Jamie Bracey Green is pushing hard to produce food, energy and new product manufacturing solutions in urban communities. Ms. Green is an accomplished educational psychologist (PhD) with significant expertise persuading colleagues to collaborate to achieve results. Nationally recognized for designing and scaling pre-college developmental pathways and student success initiatives for underrepresented and nontraditional learners in science, engineering, computer science and related technologies. Her competencies are most valuable when institutional culture change is required to compete in the market.
Experience
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Ms. Green accepted Shell Oil’s request to serve as the inaugural thought leader of a national institute designed to broaden the scale and impact of the inclusive competitiveness STEM initiatives she’d proven at Temple University. The NIIC’s goal is to support institutions serving African American and other vulnerable communities in advancing strategy, leadership and competencies to become economic development anchors. The primary focus was to accelerate collaboration between historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and public-private ventures to increase Black community success in sustainability industries with a mission of increased GDP contribution from Black employer companies by 1% in one generation (2035). Ms. Green lead the Center’s mandate to transform pre-college STEM programs into university-wide strategies, practices and public-private partnerships that increase the matriculation, retention and graduation success of diverse talent in STEM. Ms. Green is a high-level relationship builder, community engagement expert and published author on culturally competent workforce policy and practices in the US and abroad. She led a high performing team in a fast-paced environment where we managed $1M in direct and in-kind resources to expand into three of Pennsylvania’s largest majority-minority school districts.
