Background & Experience

Peter R. Tyson, ISHC, is President of Tyson Hospitality Consulting. Previously, Mr. Tyson was Managing Director of CBRE Hotels, a division of CBRE (NYSE: CBG). He leads the hospitality practice of the firm’s Philadelphia office. Mr. Tyson was formerly a Senior Vice President of PKF Consulting and a Partner in the firm of Laventhol & Horwath, with whom he began his consulting career in 1969.

He is a recognized authority in the hospitality industry for which he has conducted and/or supervised literally thousands of market, economic, financial, management and valuation studies for all types of hospitality assets including hotels, resorts and casinos. He has assisted in the licensing application process for casino clients in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Kansas. His gaming clients include both commercial gaming companies and developers and Native American Tribes.

He has performed hotel- and gaming-related engagements in over 20 states in the United States, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Latin and South America, the Caribbean, Africa and the Near and Far East. Many of his international assignments have involved gaming operations capitalizing on his experience with casino projects since the mid-1970s.

A graduate of the School of Hotel Administration of Cornell University, he was at one time a CPA and is an elected member of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants. He has qualified as an expert witness in both state and federal courts in many states and has testified frequently before the gaming/lottery commissions/boards in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Kansas on behalf of his gaming clients.
