Richard Voith Offers Insight on Infrastructure Funding in Latest Issue of Urban Link

The latest issue of the Penn Institute for Urban Research’s (Penn IUR) publication, Urban Link (Volume 2017 / Issue 1) titled Expert Voices 2017: America’s Urban Infrastructure, features  an article authored by ESI President and Principal, Richard Voith: “Historical Patterns of Infrastructure Funding.”

From financing and re-prioritizing infrastructure investments to infrastructure’s role in distressed areas, Dr. Voith, along with other experts, offer a new perspective on the magnitude of infrastructure’s role in the years to follow in terms of promise and challenges.

In the article, Dr. Voith explores infrastructure investment and the challenges in measuring its overall contribution. He analyzes historic patterns in order to offer insight and points of comparison in spending today. He specifically takes a look at federal funds available for transportation based infrastructure and the changes that have occurred throughout the years.
