Background & experience
Jonathan Nerenberg is an analyst at ESI, where he supports real estate market analysis, economic development, public policy, and urban planning engagements for clients ranging from private developers to NGOs and local government agencies.
Jonathan’s work centers on translating complex datasets into clear, decision-ready analysis. He has experience conducting market studies, corridor analyses, fiscal impact studies, and geospatial visualizations. His familiarity with urban history and neighborhood context allows him to evaluate how conditions at the block or corridor level can shape broader patterns of growth and reinvestment.
Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan worked in a policy role with the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Health and Human Services, where he designed data workflows for a criminal justice debt relief pilot program. Before that, he contributed to quantitative and qualitative research projects in academic, nonprofit, and law contexts, building skills in data analysis, geospatial analysis, and community engagement.
Jonathan received a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Urban Studies from Loyola University Chicago. He received departmental distinction for his capstone paper, “Corporate Landlords and Evictions in Chicago.”
