Bernard Anderson Discusses Racial Inequality in American Life

ESI Senior Advisor Dr. Bernard Anderson was a featured guest on C-SPAN, Washington Journal, on Saturday, August 19, 2017. During the TV segment, Dr. Anderson made the case that racial inequality in American economic life is a major factor contributing to racial tensions today. He also argued that public policies like the New Markets Tax Credit, Earned Income Tax Credit, and public/ private partnerships are proven measures for reducing poverty, increasing employment, and helping to reduce urban economic distress. He believes that to get beyond race, we must first take account of race, then implement public policies that will eliminate employment and income disparities.
