The Philadelphia Business Journal’s article on internet gambling in New Jersey cites Econsult Solutions’ recent study. The article suggests that the introduction of internet gambling to the state could bring a “windfall” of jobs and revenue for the state.
“Econsult Solutions Inc. in Philadelphia said by adding sports betting and other forms of betting could push the annual revenue to $5 billion to $8 billion, while generating 11,000 to 16,000 jobs.
Econsult’s report shows that should future legislation include the legalization of domestic sports and other betting, the economic impact of internet gambling in New Jersey could reach $5 billion to $8 billion a year in revenue and support between 11,000 to 16,000 jobs.”
Governor Chris Christie recently signed internet gambling into law, making New Jersey one of only three states to tap into this source of gaming revenue.
