ESI Congratulates the Bronx River Alliance on Being Awarded a TIGER Grant

BRA_secondary brand signatureEconsult Solutions, Inc.   (ESI) would like to congratulate its client, the Bronx River Alliance, and NYC Parks on being awarded a 10 million TIGER grant — one of the most competitive grant programs — by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to complete the construction of a final link in the Bronx River Greenway.
ESI was retained by Bronx River Alliance to perform a cost-benefit analysis to determine the impact the project would have on its surrounding area and help with the TIGER application.
This $10 million grant will be used to close the gap in the Bronx River Greenway through the construction of 0.75 miles of bike and pedestrian trails and two bicycle/pedestrian bridges. The completion of this project will transform the Bronx River Greenway into a safe and convenient transportation corridor in an area where walking and cycling have been limited by highway and railroad networks. The final Bronx River Greenway link will include eight miles of bicycle and a pedestrian trail connecting major employment centers, educational, and tourist destinations.
This award will be matched by funding from Mayor de Blasio, NYSDOT, NFWF/DOI Hurricane Sandy Coastal Resiliency Competitive Grant program, and funding allocated by NY State Senator Ruben Diaz, Sr. and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.
The TIGER Program offers an opportunity for DOT to invest in transportation-based projects that promise to achieve national objectives. ESI provides TIGER Grant applicants with support for submitting accurate, convincing and competitive applications by determining the costs, benefits and positive impacts of large infrastructure projects through rigorous data-driven analyses such as cost-benefit analyses.
