ESI Senior Advisor and Consultant to the World Bank Sidney Wong was invited to join the APA’s Community Planning Assistance Team (CPAT) to develop an economic development plan for North Beach, MD. By the end of a 4-day workshop the planning team presented a list of short- and long-term visions to increase the economic appeal of the town. Still very much a small seasonal town, North Beach is looking to enhance the summertime tourism and is currently exploring the development of a hotel and resort facilities.
It is a pro-bono work with a multidisciplinary team of specialists in zoning, urban design, hotel development, economic development, etc. The charge also includes to recommend projects and strategies to promote business climate, number of tourist.
APA organizes volunteer planning teams tailored specifically to a community’s needs. Members offer their time and expertise to people and places where additional resources are needed to reach a shared vision for their future.
