The work performed by the North Broad Renaissance (NBR), a non-profit committed to revitalizing the area stretching from City Hall to Germantown Avenue by creating opportunities for businesses and residents, was recently highlighted in the Philadelphia Business Journal. The article mentions the three goals of NBR’s 5-year plan, called 2020 Vision: create a “health zone” around Temple Health, increase green space and improve attractiveness.
Self-identified as a connector and communicator, North Broad Renaissance recognizes the critical role stakeholder and community engagement will play in the success of the organization and the redevelopment of North Broad. Relying on her diverse experiences at the African American Chamber of Commerce and as founder of the Peace of PR firm, Shalimar Blakely leads the initiative to improve overall quality of life along the corridor and ensure that organizational and community goals are aligned.
Chavous Consulting together with community engagement and strategic planning specialists, is leading the development of the North Broad Renaissance 2020 Vision Strategic Plan. The plan outlines the goals, objectives, and tactics the organization will pursue in order to promote improvements in cleanliness and safety; maintenance and landscaping; marketing and communications; and economic development. Research conducted by Econsult Solutions supported the development of the overall plan and helped establish targeted performance indicators to track progress achieving the outlined goals. Overall, as outlined in the 2020 Vision Strategic Plan, North Broad Renaissance is poised to act as the advocate and connector necessary to revitalize one of the City’s most historically significant corridors.
