On October 20th, 2015, ESI Vice President and Principal, Peter Angelides, will speak at the Annual Conference of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association. In his presentation, “Making Use of Big Data – What You Can Learn from Detailed Real Estate Data”, he will discuss data sources, acquisition, cleaning, and analysis to get a richer understanding of real estate data. Participants will be shown how to build indices that track housing prices for user-defined geographies; and how to use data to measure the impact of landscape features, government programs, or other planning interventions.
As hinted in the name, the APA PA Chapter – Making Great Communities Happen conference will provide attendees with insight into various issues pertaining to what makes great communities. Topics range from community development, including place making, neighborhood revitalization, dealing with blight, maintaining affordable housing, and historic preservation to current environmental and conservation issues, including integrated water resources planning, flood insurance program changes, and a variety of “green” practices.
