ESI and strategic partner Parter International, Inc. developed a five-year strategic plan for Douglas County Travel and Tourism that supports the tourism agency’s mission to promote awareness of the visitor attractions in the Atlanta, GA metro county. The plan includes achievable recommendations and funding sources that will ultimately enhance economic impact in the county.
As a growing suburban county of the Atlanta metropolitan area, Douglas County is positioned to capitalize on regional tourism by attracting residents from the populous Atlanta metropolitan region for day trips and overnight stays, as well as tourists from outside the area who are looking for unique experiences.
To complete the five-year strategic plan, ESI and Parter conducted a situation analysis, researched visitor experience options available, completed an organizational assessment, and conducted a SWOT analysis, all of which informed the team’s actionable recommendations. The recommendations range from visitor experience and tourism infrastructure enhancements to tourism marketing and community engagement. For implementation, the team researched funding sources and recommended mechanisms to engage stakeholder organizations. Recommendations to Douglas County Travel and Tourism were also informed by research of other, similar communities’ tourism and visitor attraction endeavors.
