Key findings and benchmarking tool from the Building a Hyperconnected City program to be unveiled

ESI ThoughtLab will be on hand from Monday, November 18 – Thursday, November 21 at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, Spain to unveil complete findings from the Building a Hyperconnected City program. The study, which is a deep dive assessment of smart city solutions, includes a benchmarking survey of 100 hyperconnected cities in 52 countries across all world regions.

ESI ThoughtLab has analyzed smart city investments, practices, and benefits across multiple urban dimensions grouped under four major pillars: technology, data and analytics, cybersecurity, and connected citizens. The program also identifies the challenges, such as citizen backlash, procurement complexity, and heightened cyberrisks, and how forward-looking cities are overcoming these hurdles.

Full findings will be officially unveiled by Lou Celi, ESI ThoughtLab CEO, during a keynote presentation for the expo’s Internet of Things panel session. Members of ESI ThoughtLab’s research team including Dr. Daniel Miles, Chief Economist and Lead Researcher and Steve Wray, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives will also be presenting and available for in-person meetings.

A specially designed tool called the Smart City Data Navigator which provides a city comparison feature will be showcased in partnership with several members of the Building a Hyperconnected City advisory board and who have booths at the Expo.
